Home Lab Blueprints
// complete reference designs for security research labs
The eventual companion to postinstall.dev. A small library of opinionated, tested, end-to-end home lab specifications for security practitioners and learners.
What this will be
Most home lab content on the internet is shallow tours of expensive racks, or scattered Reddit threads asking the same questions. Home Lab Blueprints will publish complete reference designs instead. Each blueprint covers exactly what to buy, how to assemble it, how to configure it, and what you can actually do with it once it works.
Planned blueprints
- BP-001Starter security research lab
- BP-002MSP technician learning lab
- BP-003Detection engineering lab
- BP-004First home lab (entry level)
Why it pairs with postinstall
postinstall publishes field notes from a personal research lab. Home Lab Blueprints will publish the lab itself. A reader who finishes a blueprint is set up to follow along with postinstall articles in their own environment. A postinstall reader who realizes they need a better lab has a place to come build one.
Both sites are personal research, not commercial. No vendor sponsorships, no affiliate links, no paid placement. Hardware recommendations are based on what works in the lab, period.
